JICA’s Project Starting operation of CHEMILES in Tuong Mai Water Treatment Plant in Hanoi, Viet Nam

We NAGAOKA are pleased to inform that the installation of CHEMILES in Tuong Mai Water Treatment Plant in Hanoi, Viet Nam has been completed and the operation has started from June 29, 2016.

This is under Japan International Cooperation Agency (hereinafter referred to as JICA)’s project named “the Verification Survey with the Private Sector for Disseminating Japanese Technologies for CHEMILES Technology – Groundwater Treatment System without Chemical to Improve Water Quality”, which has been implemented in collaboration with NAGAOKA and Hanoi Water Limited Company (hereinafter referred to as HAWACOM) under Minutes of Meeting signed on February 4, 2016.

CHEMILES is an extremely high speed chemical-less groundwater treatment system to remove high levels of iron, manganese, and ammonium nitrogen, etc. in groundwater by utilizing contact oxidation and bacteria at low running cost. Since no chemicals (i.e. Chlorine) are required, CHEMILES reduces the risk of generation of harmful by-products from chlorination (i.e. Trihalomethane) and industrial waste.

On June 29, 2016, the inauguration ceremony was held at Tuong Mai Water Treatment Plant with many participants from NAGAOKA, JICA, HAWACOM, Vietnam Water Supply and Sewerage Association, Hanoi City People’s Committee, Vietnam Water Supply and Sewerage Magazine、and other organization related to water supply in Hanoi.

CHEMILES attracted good reviews from the participants as Japanese-high standard equipment with compact design. NAGAOKA also received appreciation and high evaluation from HAWACOM for its proper installation works without any delay in the process even under severe hot weather of Hanoi’s summer.

With the application of our CHEMILES system (treatment capacity 2,500 m3/day) for removing high level of iron, manganese and ammonia nitrogen in groundwater source, Hanoi Water Limited Company can improve the quality of Tuong Mai water treatment plant’s finish water with effective use of existing facilities. NAGAOKA will also provide technical guidance of operation and maintenance of CHEMILES system so that Hanoi Water Limited Company can sustainably operate the system.

Starting with installation in Tuong Mai Water Treatment Plant, NAGAOKA will expand CHEMILES’s market in Vietnam as well as other countries in South East Asia, such as Thailand, Cambodia and Laos.
